Kidfresh Meals

tt twitter micro3 Kidfresh Meals .

Recently we tried several of the Kidfresh products.  The boys absolutely love them!  Especially the quesadillas.

products frozen quesadilla lg Kidfresh MealsThe best part of this is that there are hidden vegetables in each meal!  I’m fortunate that my kiddos like vegetables, but I’m certainly not complaining when they get a few hidden ones in a healthy meal. There are a variety of Kidfresh meals available and I’m sure you’ll find one (or several!) that your kids will love.  We are anxious to try the wagon wheels mac & cheese; I know the boys will love it. Unfortunately, when I was grocery shopping last weekend our local Publix was SOLD OUT of this one!  I guess that is a good sign though because it must be loved by many, right?!

Kidfresh is created by parents for parents, with the help of top pediatric nutritionists and NYC-based chefs, Kidfresh has grown from its initial concept store on Manhattan’s Upper East Side in the mid 2000’s to become a pioneer in all-natural, wholesome, yummy kids meals, available in the freezer sections of leading grocery stores and supermarkets in the United States. Kidfresh offers time-tested kid favorite entrees with 100% natural ingredients, blended vegetables and key nutrients for growing children – ready in 4 minutes. Each meal comes high in protein and vitamins, contains low sodium, and all for under 400 calories.

Kidfresh meals are a welcome solution to today’s busy parents! The company’s founder, Matt Cohen, created the line of frozen meals with his family in mind and makes sure that his company also helps children in need; Kidfresh is a proud sponsor of Save the Children and has donated meals to City Harvest, a New York-based non-profit which helps to feed families in need. To learn more, visit www.kidfresh.com.  Don’t forget to become a fan on facebook so that you can receive coupons and news  as they publish them.  As a matter of fact you can download a coupon here.

To see if their products are available in a store near you, please check out their store locator here: http://www.kidfresh.com/find-a-store/

I hope you enjoy their products as much as we do.  They really do make great, quick and healthy lunches.  You can’t go wrong.

It Is All About Perspective

tt twitter micro3 It Is All About Perspective .

Our house alarm went off twice last night due to low battery. Talk about being jolted awake thinking someone was breaking into the house. Twice.

Needless to say I didn’t sleep much.

I had an ultrasound scheduled this morning on the other side of Atlanta at 8am.

Hurry and get ready and drop the boys off at school only to sit in traffic. I was 10 minutes late to my appointment and should not have been. I left in plenty of time.

At my appointment I almost passed out and she had to stop my ultrasound until I felt better. I think it was a combination of lack of sleep, a warm room, a wiggly baby and someone pushing on my stomach restricting blood flow.

I leave my appointment and sit in traffic yet again. It has been 30 minutes and I’ve moved about 15 feet. I can almost see my office, but cannot get there.

I want to park my car on the side of the road and climb the embankment and come back for the car later.

Probably not a good idea though considering I am insanely pregnant and ready to deliver in less than 3 weeks.

So instead I sit here with a million other cars and try to put it in perspective.

I am healthy. This baby girl wiggling inside me appears to be healthy. Our family is happy. We have good jobs, awesome family and great friends.

The people involved in the wreck that caused this traffic fiasco are not so lucky.

My father in law who is in the hospital right now with cancer is not so lucky.

Those without jobs (that want one) are not so lucky.

Those in unhappy marriages are again not so lucky.

Those with sick kids are not so lucky.

It is all about perspective. And right now I consider myself pretty lucky and very blessed.

I hope you do too.

Lesson Learned? Nope!

tt twitter micro3 Lesson Learned? Nope! .

I had a craving for ice cream the other night, go figure.  It was a nice Spring night and I thought it would be fun to all go out as a family after dinner and enjoy some ice cream and then run off the sugar in the park.

Good plan you say?  I thought so.

Half way through dinner we told the boys if they made a happy plate (aka ate all their dinner) we had a special surprise for them.  This definitely intrigued Ryan.  He asked a million questions and gobbled up the remaining bites of manicotti on his plate.

Owen on the other hand?  Not so much.  I’ve told you he is stubborn right?  Well, he is.

Since Owen refused to finish his dinner (he claimed half way through eating that he didn’t like it), we told him what the surprise was.  We told him that if he didn’t finish eating there was no ice cream for him.

Mind you, we don’t force them to finish their plates all the time.  If they truly don’t like something we don’t make them eat it.  But this is one of their favorite meals and I didn’t give him much to begin with.  He was just stubborn and didn’t want to eat it.

He said he would just watch everyone eat it.  So off we went to follow through with our plan.

Owen didn’t get ice cream.  He looked a little sad, but didn’t pitch a fit or cry or anything.  He just looked sad as we ordered ice cream for the three of us.

We headed to the park and ate and played.  Owen took a very small taste of my ice cream, but again, seemed fine with the situation.

On the way home I asked him, “So, Owen?  Are you going to eat your dinner next time so you can have some yummy ice cream too?”

His response, “Um… No.”

And that was it.  Such a simple statement; such a simple response.

Who Signed Her Up for Gymnastics Already?

tt twitter micro3 Who Signed Her Up for Gymnastics Already? .

I held a one day old baby girl last week and almost had an anxiety attack.  Well, not quite that bad, but close.

Mind you, she was the most adorable, mellow and chill little girl ever as I snuggled her, but still, I couldn’t help but think about how this was going to be us in the very near future.

I’m excited.  Trust me, I really am.

I’m just a little anxious; a little nervous.  I mean, what do I do with a newborn again?

They need so much stuff.  Swings, bouncy chairs, car seats, strollers, burb cloths, blankets, pacis, bottles, bassinets, and the list goes on.

Ryan and Owen get themselves up in the morning and get a pop tart out of pantry and play for an hour or so before they are ready for breakfast and wake us up.  I have a feeling a newborn won’t be that kind to us.

I know it’ll all come back to us once we hold that precious little girl of ours.  I know the boys will be amazing big brothers; they already are.  Ryan is constantly trying to feed me snacks that he thinks the baby will like.  Owen has to kiss the baby in my belly all the time.  They already talk about what they will do when baby sister cries and what she might need.

I have no doubt they will be amazing big brothers.  And I know the newborn stage will come back to us as if it was just yesterday we went through it.  Or at least I hope it does.

Only a few more weeks (4-5 weeks to be exact) until we meet this precious little gymnastics girl in my belly.  Truly I cannot wait.  Well for that and a glass of wine.

Looking for Suggestions From Stay at Home Moms!

tt twitter micro3 Looking for Suggestions From Stay at Home Moms! .

Baby sister will be joining our household in the mid May timeframe.  The boys are done with school around that same time.

What does this mean?  Pretty much from day 1 of baby sister coming home from the hospital I will be home with 3 kids all summer alone.  HELP!

No, I’m kidding.  Well, I will be home alone all summer with them, but I’m not too worried.  Or should I be?

The one thing about this that is starting to stress me out is that I don’t feel like I have good control of our house to all be home all day, every day together.  Our house can be spotless and within an hour it seems a tornado has gone through it.  How does this happen so quickly?

We have shoes at the front door and the backdoor depending on where the kids have been playing.  We have baskets by both doors, but it doesn’t seem to help.  They fill up and the shoes still end up all over the floor.  Right now we have the jumpy house near the backdoor because we’ve been taking it in and out almost every day for the last week.  Why bring it further away from the door when it’s just going back outside?  In the meantime though it’s killing me to have it sit by the door; it’s big and bulky and takes up walking space.

We have converted our dining room to a play room for the boys and it’s the first room you see when you walk in the front door.  It’s always a train wreck.  There are storage bins and baskets and organization things in there, but it still looks like a mess all the time.  Plus the toys end up all over the first floor of the house because it’s so easy for them to bring the toys out of that room.  There are no doors to the room; it’s open to the rest of the rooms on the main floor.

Our kitchen is another issue for me.  It’s the dropping area for everything including mail, keys, dishes, appliances, and junk.  I try so hard to get this organized and under control, but it just doesn’t matter.  Things are every where all of the time.  I have no idea what to do anymore.

Our master bedroom is also on the main floor and always has piles of laundry, mainly clean piles that need folding all over the room and bed.

Once we add the newborn to the mix it’s going to be even worse with bouncy seats, swings, strollers and car seats all over too.  I’m starting to feel a little claustrophobic already!

I have mastered the cooking in bulk and freezing to make mealtime easier.  I plan on taking a weekend soon to stock the freezer to get us by for a while after the baby comes home.  But if you have any great recipes to share that freeze well, please share them.  I’d love some new ideas.

Everything else though – Help.  How will I ever stay on top of all of these things this summer with a newborn and two very active boys always wanting and needing something?

How do you keep your house presentable?  What are your tips and tricks you can share with me as I start this new adventure in about 5-6 weeks?  Do you have a cleaning schedule where you take a room a day?  Are there specific things you do daily?

How do you do all of it and still enjoy some time with the kids for art projects, outdoor time, play dates and field trips?  Not to mention a newborn baby and nursing on probably very little sleep?

Practicing For Baby Sister

tt twitter micro3 Practicing For Baby Sister .

As we have been digging out the baby stuff, decorating bedrooms and buying diapers, the boys have been practicing for baby sister.

I think Ryan gets the hang of things and knows what to do when she cries and fusses.

Owen on the other hand may need a bit more instruction and guidance.
