A friend of mine is celebrating a birthday today. And she’s not just any friend; she’s an amazing woman.
I’ve known Heather for 6 years now. She was one of my first friends when we moved from Denver to Atlanta. She showed me the ropes of the area and would even dog sit for our crazy pup (and spoil her!). We’ve shared (many) glasses of wine over the years and have had a lot of laughs.
Heather got married (to Glenn) and moved to North Carolina several years ago. And even though I don’t get to see her often, I still consider her a good friend. You know, the kind of friend that you can go several years without seeing and then when you do get together (over a glass of wine) it’s as if no time has passed. Yes, she’s that kind of friend.
I’m telling you all of this because Heather has had one crazy year. She’s been through more than you can imagine and she deserves to be recognized for the wonderful person that she is. Heather gave birth to 24-week micro preemie triplets. Eliza is their beautiful surviving triplet born in September 2010. She spent 162 days in the NICU and is finally home!
Eliza is the cutest little girl and has come such a long way since September. She has challenged her parents and has tested their strength. She has had several surgeries and her fiesty personality makes her perfect. And Heather has been amazing through it all. She really is one amazingly strong person. She was by Eliza’s side through it all. She learned medical lingo she never thought she would have to; she felt emotions she didn’t know she had; and she blogged about their ups and downs at Love, Laughter & Something Else.
So today, I ask that you stop by and visit Heather. Wish her a happy birthday and trust me when I say you wish you knew her personally. She’s that great.
Happy Birthday Heather. I hope your day is a fabulous one. You deserve it.
BTW – her hubby Glen is pretty cool too and has been through a lot as well. But it’s not Glenn’s birthday today so this isn’t all about Glenn 🙂 Sorry Glenn!
