Hamburger Cookies

We are going a little stir crazy being snowed in (or should I say iced in) for so many days.  I’m running out of creative projects where we happen to have all the supplies on hand in our house and/or pantry.

I can come up with a million things to do while being stuck indoors for countless days (painting Owen’s room; making Valentine gifts; organizing the garage); however, most require a trip to some sort of store.  And that wasn’t happening.

So on Snow Day #3 we made hamburger cookies.  This recipe was sent to me from a family friend (thanks Carol!) weeks ago and snow day #3 was the perfect day to make them.

Aren’t they cute?!

We had to improvise with what we had in our pantry so what you see here is Nilla wafers for the bun; Keebler grasshopper cookies for the hamburger meat; and white frosting with red food coloring for the ketchup and with yellow food coloring for the mustard.

And wa-la!  A hamburger cookie.

So now what do I do with the kids all hyped up on sugar??

I guess I should have thought of that sooner….. did you notice Delta in the background hoping and praying that just a small part of a Nilla wafer would drop to the floor?  She is so patient.

  1. So cute. What a great idea.

It was a really fun and super easy project to do. Of course I had a few sneaky little boys who would snag a taste of the frosting when I would turn my head. The laughter gave it away though when they would get away with it :-)

  2. We are in SC and are iced in too. We braved the roads yesterday to go to the mall. I just HAD to get out of the house.

I hear ya! We got out today for the first time in almost a week and it felt great to be amongst strangers with my hair done and make up on. I can’t say either of those things happened all week. LOL!

  3. What a cute idea! Glad to see his eyes are clearing up nicely!

It was a really fun project! And super easy!! His eyes are clearing up great and he’s doing wonderfully. Now we’re just anxious to see what the doctor says about the success of the surgery. Keep your fingers crossed! Thanks for the comment :-)

I would LOVE to hear from you!
