Can Adults Throw Temper Tantrums?

Do you ever have one of those days that just don’t go your way?  Your phone rings off the hook, emails pile up, the dog pukes, the kids are crying and fighting, the traffic is terrible, the weather is rainy and you almost run of gas because you aren’t paying attention to the gas light that came on many miles ago?

Well that was my day.

None of the things that happened yesterday were horrible.  It could have been worse.  It wasn’t fun, but it could have been worse. I seriously felt like I wanted to cry several times yesterday for no particular reason.  I kind of felt like throwing an Owen tantrum.

And yes, that is juice that has spilled on his shirt and you can probably see some sand in his teeth because yes, he did eat some.  And for all I know he was crying at this moment because I told him to stop putting sand into his mouth.  It’s icky.  He thought differently.

Wouldn’t it feel good if we could just throw a temper tantrum when things don’t go our way?

  1. You don’t have to be a young mother to have days like that!! Grandmothers have them too, especially when we are still working! Sometimes a good cry or a tantrum makes you feel sooooooooo much better! Let the men wonder what has gotten into you, and maybe they will take care of you for once!

  2. Oh, yes, I have days like that…more of them when my kids were really little, though.

Just stumbled on your blog. I have two boys, too 🙂

  3. You mean you don’t throw temper tantrums? *hangs head in shame*

  4. I would do something that will make myself feel better – talk to someone, eat my favorite food, listen to my favorite music, etc

Oh!!! Or a pedicure!!! That sounds so nice right now. Not sure why since it’s all about warm socks right now, but still. Something about a relaxing pedicure. Thanks for the advice!

  5. I say throw the tantrum! Whenever I get on the floor yelling, screaming and kicking the kids stop being mad and start giggling with me instead! (Yes, I only do this when the kids are throwing a tantrum but hey, it does make you feel better.)

LOL! I am not sure how the boys would react. They would probably be very confused and startled. I should try it sometime… haha!

  6. What was it about yesterday? For some reason it seems like everyone had an off day! So sorry!

That’s what I keep hearing too. Everyone that I’ve talked to had a day like that yesterday. Hoping your day today was a good one! Other than the pouring rain in ATL today, it wasn’t too bad.

  7. Yesterday was a miserable one for me too. In fact I talked to several people yesterday who were ALSO having a day worthy of a do-over. Yuck! Must have been a Monday thing, or a pre-holiday/post holiday thing or just a plain old bad day all around. A tantrum was definitely in order:)

I think our tough part was just getting back into a routine. We were bums over the long weekend and just did whatever, whenever. It was great. But made for a not so great Monday. I’ve heard that most everyone had a day like we (and you) did yesterday! Comfort in numbers right?!

I would LOVE to hear from you!
