Back on Track

I don’t want to bore you with the details of why our Typical Suburban Family blog has not been updated over the last few weeks. All you need to know is that we’re back on track and ready to share our family stories and some exciting giveaways with you!

A week ago we took a break from the craziness, hopped in the car and drove to McDonough, GA to visit the Southern Belle Farm.  The boys were thrilled to be heading to the pumpkin patch for an evening of fun.  I hadn’t mention this adventure to them until we were on our way.  We really weren’t sure we’d even go over that particular weekend because the boys were not feeling the best and were super duper crabby.  Jim and I even looked at each other as we drove out of the neighborhood and asked each other “Should we really be doing this?  Should we just go back home?”

But we went.

And we had a BLAST!

We rode in a teeny tiny cow train.  Well, for kids it’s not all that small, but as an adult sitting in the cow train, it was small.  Especially for Jim.

I think my favorite part of the evening was playing in the corn box.  This was serious fun for me.  I loved the feel of the corn sifting through my fingers and burying the boys in the corn.

We also enjoyed a hay ride at dusk.

They took us out to the pasture where the cows came right up to the tractor to eat out of the food bins.  Big Bessie was a pregnant cow and she was determined to get her fill before allowing the others a bite.  Owen would squeal with excitement when he would pet the cows.

We managed to get lost in the corn maze at which point Ryan announced he had to go potty. Super great timing.

We also did a little jumping…..

and a little pumpkin searching…..

Some were too heavy to carry….

So we settled on a smaller one.

And then we stopped for a little photo opp….

and proceeded to enjoy a little tractor pulling and then had a little brotherly competition of tractor racing…..

We also watched a pig race.

And to top it off, it was a beautiful sunset over the farm.

It was a much needed family evening and a break from everything else going on making our schedules crazy and almost unmanageable.
