Indian Summer Turkey Chili – a Fall Favorite For Sure!!

One of my favorite things about fall (other than candy corn) is my favorite recipe…. Indian Summer Turkey Chili.

Jim found this recipe several years ago on the Food Network website when we needed to make chili for some reason.  I have no idea why we needed to make it at that time, but I love this recipe.  And that’s coming from someone who isn’t a huge fan of chili to begin with.

This past weekend was our first nice real fall day and I couldn’t wait to make it!  With football on the TV (E-A-G-L-E-S…. go EAGLES!) and the neighbors coming over for the game, it was a perfect meal.

On a side note, I think Jim has finally brain washed me!  Don’t get me wrong, I’m still a Wisconsin Packer fan, but he’s much more vocal about his love for the Eagles.  So we’ll just go with it.  For now anyway.

But back to the chili… I browned the ground turkey, added the seasonings and spices.

Chopped up the onions and bell peppers (the green bell peppers are fresh from my garden!).

Then added the tomato sauce and barbeque sauce (after a second trip to the grocery store since we didn’t have any tomato sauce). I always add the optional corn too.

For toppings I always add shredded sharp cheddar cheese, a doll0p of Daisy (sour cream) and chopped onions.  I use Frito scoops to scoop up the chili (who needs a spoon?!).

And wa-la!  There you have it!  A super delicious fall recipe.

Go ahead and try it.  You won’t be disappointed.  Even if you’re like me and you don’t typically like chili.  This chili is YUMMY!  And makes for great leftovers.  Although we didn’t have any left after yesterday’s football game.  I guess I will have to make it again this weekend…..
