Up North

We’ve made it.  We’re in Wisconsin at the cabin which happens to be in the middle of nowhere (so don’t expect too many blog posts this week).  It’s quiet and peaceful and cool.  The temps dip down into the mid 50’s at night.  The highs are in the mid 70’s during the day.  Perfect.

The kids are absolutely loving it here.  They have worked hard to build a sand area in the front yard.  They each have a bucket and shovel and they walk all around the property looking for sand.  They collect it in their buckets and bring it over to the sand area.  Then they use their construction matchbox trucks and they build roads and push the sand all around to make it just right.

The boys are dirty, sticky and inquisitive.  But boy have they been good.  They’ve actually been darn close to perfect.   We don’t have internet or cell phone reception.  Like I mentioned before it’s quiet.

We’ve been here for just over 24 hours and I realize how wonderful it would be if Atlanta and Wisconsin weren’t quite so far from each other.  The boys love it here.

During the summer there are the obvious activities, but in the winter we could put our thermal clothing on and go ice fishing, skating, play hockey and build snowmen.  There is a great hill just up the dirt road from us and we could go sledding.  I love hot cocoa and snuggly fires.

But for now, we are here for the week and enjoying all of the activities that summer has to offer.  With perfect weather and (so far) perfectly behaved boys.    Here’s hoping this continues.  Keep your fingers crossed for us.

Have you ever been to Wisconsin?
