Who’s Up For Swimming?

The other morning I came around the corner to the foyer area to check on my ever so quiet little Owen.  Typically a quiet kid equals a naughty kid so I wasn’t sure what I would find in the 3 minutes he was left alone.

This is what I found…..

….. a sweet little guy trying to get himself ready to go to the pool.  When Ryan asked if we could go to the pool, Owen wasn’t going to take my response of “Sorry honey, but its raining out.  We can’t go swimming this morning.”

Nope, Owen was taking matters into his own hands and was getting himself ready for the pool.  He was bound and determined he was going to go.  And notice he’s still in his pajamas?  And also notice that they are Santa pajamas?  We celebrate Christmas all year long in our house.  And if people wouldn’t think I was crazy I would probably keep the tree up all year long as well.  I love Christmas!

And after all the work he went through, I almost (and I repeat almost) took them.  But then the thunder started and it just wasn’t an option.  And boy was Delta sad about that.  She was ready to go too.

Love, love, love to wear them out!!! Makes nap time or bed time much easier 🙂 And the dog…. well she loves the water just as much as the boys do! When we put the little plastic pool in the backyard she is typically the first one to jump in and lay down. haha!

  4. That’s too cute! I hope mine is that excited to go swimming when she gets a bit older (I’m working hard on getting her to love the water).

My boys have reacted differently to the water each season. Some times they love it and are really brave and jump right in and other times they are very hesitant and like to just sit on the edge and splash with their feet. I never pressure them to get in if they don’t want to. It being on their terms has seemed to work real well and both absolutely LOVE the water!! Although once in awhile they still choose to sit on the edge and just play with the water toys outside of the water. And that’s ok.

  5. There’s always the bathtub! I have great pictures of my daughter with a mask and snorkel in the tub. She spend her time retrieving diving rings out of two inches of water.

That is a brilliant idea!! I have no idea why I didn’t think of the bathtub!! I should have let him splash around in there for a little bit. I felt so bad breaking his heart about not going to the pool. Plus we have a big oversized soaking tub so he would have had a blast. Next time… Thanks for the idea. I will be sure to post pictures when we “swim in the tub” 🙂

I would LOVE to hear from you!
