Backyard Playground Recommendations Needed

We spent today researching backyard playgrounds.  The boys absolutely love to slide and swing and climb and well, be boys.  The usable portion of our yard is not huge so we are somewhat limited on what we can purchase as far as features and styles go.

Today we looked at Rainbow Play Systems and PlayNation Play Systems.  We really liked certain things about each of those brands, but would be happy with either of them.  The play system we picked from each ran about $1500.  That was the part I didn’t care for.

Some of the other brands we’ve looked at online are Big Backyard, Swing N Slide, Gorilla Play and CedarWorks.  I know nothing about either of these as far as quality goes.  I’m guessing CedarWorks is the most expensive of what we’ve looked at since it’s all custom built.  Big Backyard seems to be the most reasonable, but also seems to have the least amount of warranty, etc.

I really liked a specific one from Swing N Slide and it appears to be on clearance right now.  The price is actually not bad at all for the features included on this one here.  Plus the footprint of this one appears to be smaller since everything is so compact.  I really do like this one, but wish there was a way to see one and know what the quality is like.  Does anyone have one or know of someone who has the Swing N Slide brand?

From the Gorilla Playsets I really like this one specifically.  Again, we need a small footprint and this provides all the features the boys would enjoy, but in a smaller, condensed format.

If you have or know someone who has a play system that they love, please take this one question poll regarding the brand.  If you select other, please leave a comment with what brand you do have.  If you have any specific feedback you can provide regarding the brand you have (likes and dislikes), please leave a comment.  Or if you have general advice to consider prior to purchasing one, I’d love to hear that too.

  1. We love your blog, and we couldn’t help but comment when we saw your post mentioning Cedarworks! Might be a teeny bit biased here, but CedarWorks offers exceptional splinter-free quality no-maintenance sets made of Northern White Cedar. We’re moms, dads, and play set experts and we can help you pick the best set for your family and budget. And because the sets are customizable, they can be very competitive for price. There are some pre-designed sets to choose from, too. 😉 Give a call, we can help! Happy swinging, and thanks for the mention!

I’ve been researching play systems too. I’m pretty sure we will end up buying a used Rainbow system. I’ve found a ton on Craigslist for great prices and I like to know that I’m doing my part to keep our trash down. Just a suggestion!
